Some stunning weather is headed our way. Storms and cold hold out until later.

This is going to be an interesting week of weather, not because there’s any snowstorm, big cold, or major heat, but because there will be a fairly dramatic contrast between the start of the week and the last two days. Let’s start with the good stuff.
Monday and Tuesday look like absolutely stunning days. These will be the kind of days when, if you have flowering trees or perennials, you can go out and take some pictures with a brilliant blue sky as the background. There’s not going to be much wind, and temperatures are going to be in the 60s over inland areas, 50s at the coast.
The temperatures won’t be the same on both days. It’ll be in the mid- to upper 60s on Monday inland and mid- to upper 50s at the coast.

We’re going to drop back about 5 to 7 degrees in both locations for Tuesday with a northeasterly flow of air off the water. There’s no chance of significant precipitation.
With that northeasterly flow Tuesday afternoon, there may be some cloudiness coming in from the ocean, and there could be a little bit of drizzle later in the day.

Storm moves in Wednesday night, Thursday
Low pressure will then approach the area on Wednesday. How this storm unfolds Wednesday night into Thursday is still a bit questionable. There’s definitely going to be some precipitation, but exactly how heavy it is and where the heaviest bands of rainfall end up on Thursday into Friday still needs to be determined.
Along with the cloudy conditions, it will also be cooler with readings in the 50s and maybe even some 40s at the water’s edge.

We definitely need significant rainfall. It’s been incredibly dry the past 30 days. Most areas are averaging 2 to 3 inches below average. The good news is we should see at least half an inch and perhaps up to an inch or more if conditions come together just right later this week. Because it’s been so dry, there’s no risk of any flooding or anything like that. We could handle multiple inches of rain at this point.
Looking ahead, the start of the weekend may be cloudy and cool if the system lingers, but we should start to improve later in the weekend. More on that, of course, in the coming days.
