Uber invests in HysetCo to expand hydrogen taxi fleet in Paris

Partnership targets zero‑emission urban mobility and strengthens Uber’s taxi offering across the city.

Uber has made a strategic investment in HysetCo to support the expansion of hydrogen‑powered taxis and ride‑hailing vehicles and accelerate the decarbonisation of urban transport in France.

The investment takes the form of a convertible loan and marks Uber’s first financial commitment to a French company. It is intended to support the European hydrogen mobility operator’s growth while reinforcing Uber’s taxi and business travel services, particularly in the Paris region.

Through the partnership, hydrogen vehicles operated by HysetCo will be increasingly integrated into the app’s taxi offering. From the end of 2026, hydrogen‑powered vehicles are expected to account for around one in five cars eligible for Uber’s Business Taxi service, the company’s premium taxi option for corporate clients. Over the next five years, nearly 2,000 hydrogen taxis are planned to be incorporated into this segment.

The agreement also enables HysetCo’s taxi drivers to operate on the Uber platform, giving them access to demand from app users as well as advanced features such as upfront pricing and trip visibility before accepting a ride.

For HysetCo, the partnership strengthens its position as a reference operator in hydrogen mobility. Active in the Île‑de‑France region for five years, the company operates an integrated model combining vehicle leasing, maintenance, insurance and access to a dedicated hydrogen refueling network. More than 800 hydrogen vehicles are already in operation under its management, covering taxi and corporate fleet use.
