Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets’ family reveals 3 years of ‘torment’ before sudden death

Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets sadly took his own life on April 22 at the age of 67, and his family and friends have spoken out since his shock death.

The former reality star Darrell Sheets was reportedly “terrified for his life” in the years leading up to his death. Darrell died on April 22 at the age of 67 from an apparent suicide.

Laura Dotson, who appeared on Storage Wars, has since spoken out about the ‘cyberbullying’ Darrell faced in the three years leading up to his death.

In an interview with US Weekly, she said, “His family told us that this has been happening for three years. [It happens to] even strong men that you think aren’t gonna get their feelings hurt.

“Cyberbullying is a real thing. This made him feel so less than, and it obviously bothered him. He was terrified for his life [and] for the people around him. He didn’t know why he was being targeted.”

After Darrell was found dead, the Lake Havasu City Police Department released a statement. It read: “Officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

“The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.”

His body was turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. No additional details were shared at the time.

Darrell, called ‘The Gambler’ by fans, appeared on more than 160 episodes of Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023. After leaving the show, he started his own business called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.

According to Variety, Sheets suffered a heart attack in 2019 and retired from television and moved to Arizona.

Promoting his business on Instagram in 2024, he wrote: “Do you know this is a premier gift store for the person that has everything!!

“We carry Hot rods, taxidermy, jet skis, pinball machines, slot machines, neon, man cave accessories, something for everyone. Start early and get your Christmas gifts. We also buy here.”

Shortly after the news of Darrell’s death dropped, his Storage Wars co-star, Rene Nezhoda, uploaded a video to Instagram, claiming his friend was being cyberbullied online.

She shared in a short video: “Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that’s been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope [law enforcement] look into that guy, and it’s just not a pass.”

Sgt. Kyle Ridgway, public information officer for the Lake Havasu City Police Department, confirmed: We are aware of these cyberbullying accusations, and that is a part of the active investigation.”
