Line-up prediction: Will Carrick stick or twist?

The experienced centre-back has been unavailable for our last two outings following the red card he picked up at Bournemouth in March.

Leny Yoro and Lisandro Martinez were paired together for the defeat to Leeds, but a knock for Yoro and a red card shown to Martinez in that game meant neither were able to feature in our impressive win over Chelsea last Saturday.

In their place, the ever-versatile Noussair Mazraoui was drafted into a different role to his usual full-back slot and partnered 19-year-old Ayden Heaven – in the XI for the first time under Carrick – at the heart of our defence, and the duo performed admirably in an important victory for United.

Having helped to keep Chelsea off the scoreboard, there is a case to say that Mazraoui and Heaven could line up alongside each other again on Monday night, but Brown expects the recognised centre-back presence of Maguire – who had started each of the 10 games prior to his dismissal – to come back in.
