City honors Laredo’s Perez ahead of first televised WWE home match

Perez received a plaque as part of a small ceremony, joined by local leaders including District I Councilmember Gilbert Gonzalez, District II Councilmember Ricardo Richie Rangel Jr. and District V Councilmember Ruben Gutierrez Jr.

No media were present at the event at WWE’s request, according to the city.

“From her early beginnings to competing under the bright lights of WWE, Roxanne has become a symbol of what it means to dream big,” the city said in a statement. “She represents Laredo with pride every time she steps into the ring.”

The arena also commented on the award presented to the 24-year-old superstar.

“From Laredo to the ring, Roxanne continues to inspire the next generation with her passion, dedication and undeniable talent,” the arena stated. The arena also posted a small video featuring audio-less clips from the ceremony, including the text “Thank you for representing Laredo with heart, strength and pride.”

The text on the plaque read:

“For your remarkable journey from Laredo to the world stage, and for demonstrating that with passion, determination and heart, anything is possible. Your accomplishments in WWE have brought pride to our city and inspiration to countless young people.

“You embody the Spirit of Laredo resilient, driven and proud. With gratitude for representing our community and serving as a role model to all.”
