Arsenal transfer target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia performs U-turn on PSG future

Arsenal had been eyeing up a summer swoop for PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but the player’s father has made his stance clear as they remain in contention in for the Champions League

Arsenal had been considering an ambitious move for PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but the player’s father has come out and claimed he’s “not thinking about” switching clubs.
The Gunners had loosely looked at whether a deal for the Georgian was possible this summer and the player’s camp remained open minded about any offers. But that stance seems to have changed with his commitment to the cause in Paris now clear.
Kvaratskhelia is only just about to complete his first full season at PSG having joined them midway through the last campaign. He’s been hugely influential and has continued to come up with goals and assists in what has been a dominant side.
PSG could become only the second team in the Champions League era to go back-to-back and Kvaratskhelia looks to have little interest in leaving, unless the club themselves want to rid of him, which seems highly unlikely given his output.
Kvaratskhelia’s father, Badri, said: “Khvicha leaving PSG? He’s not thinking about that. He’s happy in Paris, where he is highly valued and respected by club.

“Why should he think about moving elsewhere when he is winning titles with the team and is one of PSG’s key players? If PSG no longer wishes to continue the cooperation, we will consider options, but for now, this is not being discussed.”
The Georgian has scored 16 times in all competitions, making him the team’s top goalscorer on par with Ousmane Dembele. Despite the quality that exists in Paris Kvaratskhelia remains a regular, giving him little reason to move. Arsenal saw first hand how influential he can be when he played against them in the semi-finals in Europe last term.

Arsenal have been linked with several big summer moves – alongside their interest in Kvaratskhelia they’re also tracking Julian Alvarez. The Atletico Madrid striker is also on Barcelona’s radar as they seek to replace Robert Lewandowski this summer.
The Gunners could yet claim Premier League glory, but they’ve regularly been criticised for a lack of potency in the final third. Their season has been built of their defence, regarded as Europe’s best, but adding more firepower in attack is something they will consider this summer if a blockbuster move can be secured.
