Blue Jays’ Springer could be activated Wednesday, Schneider says

Springer, who has been out with a broken big toe since April 11, hit and ran on Tuesday for a second straight day.

If all goes well, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Tuesday that Springer could be activated for Wednesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.

Springer was slashing .185/.290/.370 with two homers and four doubles before the injury, and his absence has left a huge hole at the top of the Blue Jays lineup.

With Springer out, Ernie Clement, Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw and Davis Schneider have all appeared in the leadoff spot for the Blue Jays.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Toronto on the injury front, as both Springer and Addison Barger, as well as a handful of pitchers, have missed significant time over the month of April.

But with Springer nearing a return, and Trey Yesavage making his 2026 debut on Tuesday against the Red Sox, the Blue Jays are beginning to get back to full health.
