Police hunt for armed suspects in two bank robberies in Roxbury and Roslindale

Police in Boston are investigating two armed bank robberies less than two hours apart on Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m., two men robbed a Santander branch on Washington Street in Roxbury before fleeing on foot, police said.
Just before noon, a robbery was reported at a TD Bank on American Legion Highway in Roslindale. Two men entered the bank and demanded money from tellers at gunpoint, while a third suspect waited in a vehicle outside.
Police said the robberies are believed to be connected. The TD Bank location in Roslindale is about a half-hour drive south of the Washington Street Santander.
The men stole “an undisclosed amount” of money from the two banks, police said. They were still at large as of Tuesday evening.
One of the suspects in the Roxbury heist was described as light-skinned, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and wearing a light blue Nike Tech hoodie. The other was wearing a black Champion hoodie with white lettering, police said. Both were wearing black pants, black face masks, and blue gloves.
They were last seen fleeing on foot on Harrison Avenue toward the Orchard Park area, police said.
Police said the men who entered the Roslindale bank were dressed similarly.
They drove away in a blue Toyota RAV4 with a Massachusetts license plate, registration 4MXN78, on American Legion Highway toward Cummins Highway.
Members of the public should use caution since the robbers are believed to be armed, police said.
In a statement, Santander said it was assisting law enforcement in the investigation.
“The safety of our team members and customers is our top priority, and we can confirm that they are safe,” the bank said.
A TD Bank spokesperson said they were “aware of the situation” and deferred further comment to law enforcement.
