This Little Piggy Went to Chanel

Matthieu Blazy has officially declared this the summer of the freaky-deaky shoe.
This morning, in the French coastal city of Biarritz, the creative director sent several pairs of half-finished sandals (in gold, silver, and black) down the Chanel Cruise runway. These shoes go where few shoes have gone before in forgoing about three-fourths of the soles. So basically, over half of your foot is making full contact with the ground.
If you’ve ever dreamt of walking down Orchard Street with your dogs out and the balls of your feet feeling the crunch of unmentionable New York City sludge and debris, these are the shoes for you. Lest we forget, this collection is meant for those who use “vacation” as a verb, for whom shoes are a means of fun rather than a simple necessity. And on the runway, these sandals were styled with textured, bouncing skirts; sequined mermaid dresses; and seashell hair clips, meaning they could just be a beachgoer’s dream.
Either way, kudos to Blazy for innovating footwear in ways previously unthinkable and for leaving Chanel fans agog.
