Teen shot on Queens A train was also shot in February, police say amid ongoing gang dispute

OZONE PARK, Queens (WABC) — Police say they are looking for several teen suspects after shots were fired on a Manhattan-bound A train in Queens, wounding a 15-year-old boy on Monday evening.
The chaos unfolded just after 6 p.m. Commuters ducked for their lives as gunfire erupted on the train, moments before it pulled into the 80th Street station in Ozone Park.
Police say the 15-year-old victim was shot at least one time in the chest. Officers took him to Jamaica Hospital in an NYPD vehicle. He is stable and expected to survive.
It is believed the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument between teens.
The teen who was shot was also shot back in February by another one of the teenagers believed to have been involved in the fight, police say.
That teen was arrested in February, but the charges were dropped after the victim refused to testify against him.
NYPD officers released an image of who they believe is the gunman.
At least five young men fled after the shooting, and detectives have been sorting through who they are looking for.
It didn’t appear that anyone else was shot or hurt in the scramble.
“I am relieved he is expected to survive,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani reacted to the shooting on social media. “This was an unacceptable incident; violence like this has no place on our subway system, and my administration is committed to doing everything in our power to make every New Yorker — especially children — safe on their daily commutes.”
MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber says he is confident that police will find the shooter.
“Here’s the main point, we got video, every subway car in New York City has a video camera, has two video cameras in it, they are getting great video,” Lieber said. “The cops have leads on the perps, they are going to get them.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
