London trains hit by 40-minute delays after line blocked by broken-down train

Commuters faced travel delays after a train broke down, disrupting services during Wednesday’s morning rush hour.
A train came to a stop between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield, blocking the line towards Oxford and causing delays of up to 40 minutes.
The disruption affected Chiltern Railways services between West Ruislip and High Wycombe, with some trains cancelled entirely.
Routes operating between London Marylebone and destinations including Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe, Princes Risborough, Oxford, Banbury and Birmingham Moor Street were all impacted.

National Rail said: “A broken-down train between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield means that the line towards Oxford is blocked.
“As a result, trains between West Ruislip and High Wycombe may be cancelled or delayed by up to 40 minutes.
“Disruption is expected until 09:45.”
Passengers were advised to check their journeys using real-time planners.
Tickets were accepted on Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, London Northwestern Railway and Elizabeth line services.
Alternative travel was also available on London Underground Bakerloo, Central, and Metropolitan line services.
Stagecoach Bus services in Oxfordshire, including the S4, S5, 2 and 2A routes, accepted rail tickets.
Passengers delayed by the disruption may be entitled to compensation and were advised to retain their tickets and journey details to support any claims.
