Star Trek icon William Shatner reveals he is “not ready to die” in a heartbreaking confession. The 95-year-old actor, who became famous as Captain Kirk in the 60s science fiction series, said the reason he wishes to stay alive is “because I have people I love”.
He told Hello!: “I don’t want to die. That’s my motivation. I’m looking at 95, are you kidding me? I want to stay healthy and functioning, and I’d like to pass away in my sleep because… I have people I love, my family, my dogs. The animals get to be central in your life, and you know dogs live 10, 15 years.”
“I think with sadness that one of us is going to die before the other, and I’ll be sadder if they die before me. I’ll relinquish my sadness if I die before them.”

In September 2025, William was rushed to hospital after suffering from a blood pressure issue but thankfully his agent later told TMZ he was “100% healthy,” reports the Express.
William himself said: “Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. I overindulged. I thank you all for caring, but I’m perfectly fine.”
He has also been the target of multiple AI hoaxes, with internet trolls fabricating false stories about him having cancer and other medical conditions.

He said on social media: “There is a page on Facebook that is using AI to create horrible fake news stories about me. The page is by The Beanstalk Functions Group which is allegedly an event planner in South Africa.
“They have created stories that say I have stage 4 brain cancer, was in some kind of fight with Erika Kirk and that I’m dying.”
“All their stories are monetised. Most of the stories use an AI image of me. Facebook Support will not remove the page.”
