Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders: Browns QB competition has strong leader

According to Mary Kay Cabot, Watson has a clear lead over Sanders for the starting role, already, with the younger quarterback having a lot of ground to catch up:
Deshaun Watson emerged from the Browns voluntary minicamp last week with an edge over Shedeur Sanders in the two-man quarterback competition — and has the inside track to be named the Browns QB1, sources tell cleveland.com.
(Sanders) But he’s got plenty of ground to make up, and will have to dazzle the coaching staff to land atop the depth chart heading into training camp.
As our Tom Moore noted, it would make sense for Watson to look good in the shorts and t-shirts environment last week:
Last week, Todd Haley was talking about this on Sirius NFL. He pointed out that of course Watson would look the best because he is a veteran throwing against air in shorts and a T-shirt.
From seemingly on his way off the team and out of the league, to now the front-runner to be the Browns starter.
Unprompted, JW Johnson, a part of the team’s ownership group, brought up how well Watson was doing so far:
Since being acquired in 2022, Watson has played in 19 games for the Browns, completing 61% of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Major injuries (shoulder, Achilles twice) and an 11-game suspension upon arrival in Cleveland have limited Watson’s time on the field. When on the field, Watson did not look like the quarterback who led the NFL in passing yards (4,823) in 2020.
What do you think about today’s report? Do you think either Sanders, Watson, or Gabriel should have taken the lead in the early setting?
