A man in his 60s is in police custody after a victim with multiple gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at Wenderly Park in North York Thursday afternoon, police say.
Officers were first called about a shooting in the area of Marlee Avenue and Glengrove Avenue W. at 12:24 p.m., Insp. Peter Wallace told reporters at the scene.
“Paramedics attended the scene and provided life-saving measures,” Wallace said. “However, the male was pronounced deceased on scene.”
The victim, who is an adult male, sustained “several gunshot wounds,” Wallace said.
“It appears to be head wounds.”
Police say a suspect was arrested nearby, and investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

“This appears to be an isolated incident and there are no threats to public safety at this time,” Wallace said.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”
Wallace could not speak to the alleged shooters motive, but said officers will be on scene looking for information and witnesses Thursday.
Anyone with information or security camera footage of the incident is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
