Police statement after armed officers descend on Edgbaston tower block

Armed officers descended on a tower block following reports of a ‘disorder’, police have said.

Paramedics were also called to Wickets Tower on Wyatt Close in Edgbaston earlier today (Friday, May 1).

BirminghamLive footage showed a huge emergency personnel presence at the entrance to the building.

However, it has now been confirmed that when officers arrived at the scene, they were unable to find evidence of any criminal activity.

And no one reported themselves as being injured, a spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed.

Officers searched the area and are now carrying out enquiries to see if any offence took place.

Armed incident at Wickets Tower Edgbaston

They have asked that anyone with information about what might have happened call 101 quoting log 3761 of May 1.

In a statement shared with BirminghamLive, the force said: “We were called to an address in Wyatt Close this afternoon following a report of a disorder.

“Officers attended and searched the area, but no sign of any criminal offences was found and no one reported any injuries to us.

“We are remaining in the area carrying out enquiries to establish whether any offences took place.

“Anyone who saw anything can call 101 quoting log 3761 of 1 May.”
