Coronation Street fans think they may have figured out who killed builder Theo Silverton as a whodunnit has begun in Weatherfield.
Fans were waiting to see which one of five villains would be revealed dead on the soap with Betsy Swain discovering their lifeless body. Theo, Megan Walsh, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster were the five villains that had been teased to viewers.
They had been sharing their theories as to who the victim was, and it was abuser Theo (James Cartwright) who first appeared on the soap in March of last year. For some, it was a long time coming, given all the pain he’d caused.
Fans watched Theo killed on Friday (May 1)
Betsy was given the shock of her life as she stumbled across Theo’s lifeless body under scaffolding. And while there are a few people who could be responsible, Corrie fans think they know who killed him.
Fans noticed George changing his jumper – perhaps to hide something – and quickly put two and two together. Writing on X after the show, one said: “Okay so George has probably killed Theo and changed his jumper.” Another added: “George has changed his jumper! He’s killed Theo!” while a third said: “Yes, it’s Theo! And it was George!!”.
Fans believe George killed Theo
A fourth commented: “George has killed Theo…changed his jumper” while a fifth said: “George killed Theo, changed his jumper, otherwise why did she mention it, blood on it perhaps?”
Others think Summer may also be involved. One wrote: “I’m guessing a Summer and George tag team situation then”, while a second added: “So Theo after all that. And it’ll be Summer who somehow killed him.”
After striking up a romance with Todd Grimshaw, Theo soon showed his true colours in a heartbreaking coercive control and domestic violence storyline. Todd finally decided to leave Theo after Billy Mayhew discovered the full extent of what his friend and former partner had been going through.
Billy’s plan to help Todd leave Theo was ruined when they prepared to head back to Weatherfield from Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey’s wedding in Yorkshire in the minibus. Theo arrived, making for an uncomfortable journey.
The minibus ended up being one of the vehicles caught up in a horror multi-vehicle pile-up at the centre of the dramatic crossover between Corrie and fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, dubbed Corriedale. While most of the passengers managed to escape, Billy was trapped by his seatbelt, and while Theo appeared to go back to save him, he ended up trapping him back in the vehicle before leaving, and it blew up in flames.
Theo had been abusing Todd
Since then, Theo’s behaviour, especially towards Todd, had only grown more horrific, and one attack left Todd in the hospital. He bravely gave a statement to the police, but, with insufficient evidence to charge him, Theo had since been free to roam the cobbles.
During Monday’s (April 27) episode, Theo broke the condition of an order to stay away from Todd, and wasn’t pleased to find his former partner at their flat, getting ready to leave for Thailand. After an altercation in the flat, which saw George helping Todd to escape, despite being hit by the villain himself.
But as the police arrived, Theo escaped, only to confront Todd once more. Luckily, George arrived in the nick of time and diffused the situation. Despite being hit by Theo himself, George kicked off his next plan by pretending that he had a cramp in his leg before diving out of his seat and towards Theo, managing to drag him into the bathroom while Todd tied a dressing gown cord around the handle to stop him leaving, giving the pair time to escape.
But as the police arrived, Theo escaped, only to confront Todd once again. The undertaker had jumped in a taxi to head to the airport for his trip, only to realise he had forgotten his phone. He stopped the taxi and asked the driver to wait while he went back to get it, only to find Theo facing him on the dimly lit street, holding his missing phone.
