13:30 Goodwood – Hassaleh
Although Hassaleh will have to take another significant step forward, there’s every reason to hope she can do so given her pedigree and the huge impression she left when winning comfortably last time at Newmarket over an extra furlong. The dropping in trip shouldn’t be a problem as she will be mentally sharper this time.
Double Rush absolutely bolted in on his first try for the Andrew Balding stable and gets in very lightly with just the 5lb penalty to carry. If he does have an off day and a skinny price favourite is not your thing, Invictus Gold can put up a good performance at each-way odds.
14:05 Goodwood – Blue Bolt
It looks a straight match on official ratings between Blue Bolt and Shes Perfect. They both bring in some top level Group 1 form. Don’t be surprised if Blue Bolt wins impressively here and she then takes up her Lockinge entry later this month as the owners of Field Of Gold was taken out of that contest recently.
14:20 Newmarket – Erzindjan
Erzindjan always seems to fly under the radar in the market yet there’s no doubting he has enough ability to pick up a big pot. He was arguably unlucky when last seen over this course and distance in the Cambridgeshire when he didn’t get any luck behind Boiling Point. He’s also reunited with Ray Dawson who looks set for a massive weekend.
14:40 Thirsk – Blue RC
Blue Rc seems fully effective on both a synthetic surface and the Turf so switching back to the green stuff should prove no problem. He arguably ran a career best last time in the Championship Mile at Newcastle and the fact that he has already won at this venue bodes well for his chances.
14:55 Newmarket – Asfoora
The fact that they’re letting the Australian superstar sprinter Asfoora stretch her legs over the undulations of the Rowley Mile would suggest that the Lemos De Souza team have worked her close to this strip of ground and she has pleased them in her preparations. She’s the class act and the quicker the conditions the better for her.
15:35 Newmarket – Avicenna (each-way)
Avicenna looked in need of his return to action 16 days ago and was arguably a little bit unlucky the way the race panned out. He was held up at the back in a small field yet it was the way that he quickened down the hill suggesting that a bigger field and a stronger gallop is going to see him in a better light. He’s sitting on a career-best performance.
