Chris Wilder praised Derby County head coach John Eustace for the job he’s done at Pride Park and admits the Rams “are a proper football club”.

The Blades came from behind to seal a 2-1 win today as Derby’s hopes of making the top six were ended by Hull City’s victory over Norwich.

Derby finished the season in eighth, which was an excellent campaign reflected in the support they received from the fans after the game.

Wilder also admitted he tried to sign a couple of Derby players previously and said: “It’s a great club.

“There were 30,000 here today, and it’s a proper football club.

“The supporters have gone back and forward at each other and that’s how it is. But there’s no abuse. You’re not getting abuse while you’re in the dugout. There’s no hostility and no overstepping over the line. They want to win, we want to win.

“They are two big clubs in the division, and as I said, I have a great amount of respect as to what John and his coaching staff have done.

“I know a lot of the players that he’s got. Rhian Brewster and Ben Brereton Diaz obviously. I tried to sign Lewis Travis, tried to sign Carlton Morris as well.

“They’re players that I really respect as well. I’ve had Matt Clarke as well who’s Player of the Year here as well.

“I know our players went over to our supporters at the end, but I wanted it to be quick. I wasn’t being disrespectful because I wanted to make sure that the home side got the amount of time that they deserve for their efforts not just today but through the season.”
