Hours-long lines and late exits prompt BTS fans to arrive early for Sun Bowl night two

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Despite hours-long waits to get into the Sun Bowl and even longer delays leaving after the first show, BTS fans returned for a second night in El Paso determined to do it all over again, this time with a plan.

On Saturday night, thousands of people waited in line for hours to get inside the Sun Bowl for the first night of BTS’ first concert of the weekend.

When the show ended, the lines didn’t.

Some concertgoers said it took up to two hours just to leave, and they didn’t get home until nearly 2 a.m.

“Oh my gosh, it was an hour and a half before we got home after the concert ended. It took us an hour and a half to get home,” one fan said.

Even so, fans came back for night two and said they arrived earlier to try to avoid the worst of the lines.

“We were here at 4 o’clock yesterday, and we were all the way back on the other side of the stadium, and so we decided to get here early today just to maybe skip all that, and it looks like were successful,” Christopher said.

Another fan described the previous night’s wait, “It was about three hours, lines wrapped all the way around to Humble Drive. It was worth it today.”

For the second night, fans said some people showed up as early as 8 a.m. and came prepared to wait, bringing chairs, fans, and plenty of water to stay hydrated.

“Today we prepare differently, we got here a little earlier and jumped into line immediately,” one fan said.

“We got here earlier than yesterday. Yesterday we were behind the sun bowl, so today we’re a lot closer,” another fan said.

“We have our umbrellas, we have our fans, we’re ready,” the fan added.

Fans said the long lines and late nights were still worth it.

“She introduced me to BTS about a year and a half ago, and it really helped me through some really hard times in the past year. It’s really nice to be able to come out and support BTS.” one husband said.

Another fan said they were “super excited to be here, we’ve been following BTS for like 10 years. BTS is a source of happiness, the energy, the vibe they bring. Their down-to-earthness, they’re like home.”

Fans on Sunday also stated there were really long lines to get it.

Sunday night was the last night BTS was scheduled to be in El Paso, closing out what fans described as a busy weekend at the Sun Bowl.

Fans could be heard cheering outside the venue, including people who could not get their hands on tickets.
