Metrolix reminds commuters about more Barrie GO service changes

Lyndsay Miller of Metrolinx explains what passengers on the Barrie GO line can expect this week with schedule adjustments being made.

After GO Service was suspended for construction along the Barrie Line this weekend, Metrolinx advised commuters about more scheduling changes this week.

A Sunday morning notice detailed the following changes along the Barrie Line for Monday:

  • Southbound trains will depart up to 13 minutes earlier and arrive up to ten minutes later than regularly scheduled.
  • Northbound trains will depart Union Station up to eight minutes earlier than regularly scheduled and will arrive at stations along the Barrie Line up to ten minutes later than regularly scheduled.
  • Most scheduled trips that begin or end at Aurora GO will begin or end at Maple GO.
  • Connection times for GO bus routes 65 and 68 will be up to 15-to-20 minutes greater than regularly scheduled.

Metrolinx says the changes are to allow for more maintenance work that will eventually support ‘faster’ and ‘more frequent’ GO service.

“We know that planned service disruptions can be inconvenient to our customers and communities, but upgrading the GO network today will bring you more service in the future, giving you more options for getting where you need to go with fewer delays, more travel flexibility and less time waiting,” said its media relations team in Sunday’s notice.

Metrolinx added that Barrie Line trains could continue departing or arriving a couple of minutes before or after they are regularly scheduled from Tuesday, May 5 until next Thursday, May 14.
