Chiefs waive three to sign trio of tryout players from rookie minicamp

The Kansas City Chiefs had over 70 tryout players in-house during the team’s rookie minicamp over the weekend, and three particular players stood out to the front office.

  • Ranked 211th of 380 receivers scouted by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler in “The Beast.”
  • Three career receptions and 37 receiving yards over 23 games played for Missouri and Kansas State
  • In 2024, he recorded 66 catches for 912 yards and six touchdowns at Illinois State
  • 6 feet 1 1/2 inches tall, 192 pounds, with 32-inch arm length
  • 40-yard dash time: 4.50 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 38 inches
  • Broad jump: 10 feet 7 inches

DB Marlen Sewell, Vanderbilt

  • Ranked 85th of 271 safeties scouted in “The Beast.”
  • 102 career tackles, no interceptions and 3 passes defended over 5 years at Vanderbilt
  • 6 feet tall, 199 pounds, with 32 3/4-inch arm length
  • 40-yard dash time: 4.48 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 36 inches
  • Broad jump: 10 feet 6 inches

OT Kahlil Benson, Indiana

  • Ranked 29th of 146 offensive tackles scouted in “The Beast.”
  • 33 career starts (25 at right tackle, eight at right guard)
  • 6 feet 6 inches tall, 321 pounds with 34 5/8-inch arm length and 10 1/4-inch hand size
  • 40-yard dash time: 5.08 seconds
  • Vertical jump: 30 1/2 inches
  • Broad jump: 9 feet 1 inch
