Lady Gaga hasn’t been at the Met Gala since 2019, when she was a co-chair and wore four different looks on the red carpet that blew everyone’s minds. Tonight, the singer continued her break from the spotlight. She wasn’t seen at the New York City event.
The star’s latest public appearance was in late April at the New York City premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2. She contributed three songs to the movie’s soundtrack and had a cameo in the film that Meryl Streep literally made happen.

On April 30, Streep told Jimmy Kimmel that she had Gaga in mind for a scene in the film set at a Milan fashion event. “I thought, why don’t I get Gaga, because she’s so great and she loves fashion,” she recalled. “And I had her number.”
Gaga agreed before Streep even fully explained the offer. “I said, ‘Well, I haven’t asked you what I’m gonna ask you,’” the actress said, but Gaga replied, “Yeah, anything. What do you want?”
The singer just finished her global Mayhem Ball Tour last month on April 13. During her last show, she thanked her fans for their support, saying, via People, “I love you all so much. I can’t believe this is the last show. I want to thank you. I want to thank you for showing up every night and cheering us on. I’d like to thank you for making this beautiful community someplace that I got to be a part of for almost 20 years now. I’d like to thank you for selling every ticket to this show. I hope that you know how much you all mean to me. I hope you know how much we will all miss you.”
