Celebs Go Dating is back for a new series – and this time no topic is off the table. The reality show on E4, which tries – often in vain – to help famous faces find their perfect match, is a huge hit with fans.

This year, stars including former rugby pro, James Haskell, Loose Women legend, Coleen Nolan, Love Island alum, Gabby Allen, and Celebrity Big Brother winner, David Potts, are all hoping to find love.

However, the new series is back with a twist, as it explores modern relationships in all their forms, including polyamory and ‘throuples’ – also known as three-way relationships.

Speaking to the Daily Star, dating expert Anna Williamson says the star-studded cast “fully embraced the process”. Billing the new series as the “most entertaining we’ve done”, she said: “We’ve just finished filming and it’s honestly one of the most entertaining series we’ve done. Everyone came in really open, really up for it. Nobody was trying to be too cool for school; they just got stuck in.”

While we can still expect the predictable awkward first dates on the show, Anna said this year, more ‘taboo’ topics will be explored, including polyamory, which is the process of engaging in multiple consensual, romantic relationships, often at the same time.

Lifting the lid on the bombshell new series, she said: “We definitely explore polyamory this series. It’s something that more people are curious about in dating now, but it has to be approached properly.”

Stressing a reasonable level of emotional maturity needs to be reached before entering into such a relationship, Anna added: “There has to be ethical non-monogamy, with honesty, communication and clear boundaries. Otherwise, it can become very confusing very quickly.”

One of the show’s hopefuls, James Haskell, opened up about his time on the show and what he learned about himself and his marriage to ex-wife Chloe Madeley.

James disclosed he sought permission from his ex-wife and the mother of his three-year-old daughter, Bodhi, Chloe, to ensure it was “the right thing to do” before committing to the E4 dating programme.

Reflecting on what he learnt about himself through participating in the series, James said: “I learnt a lot about what I want if I was to settle down or to date properly, and what my priorities are.”

The dad-of-one heaped praise on Chloe despite their 2023 split, admitting: “I was very lucky with Chloe to have someone who’s very intelligent, driven, generous, works very hard, a great mum and is funny.”

He also suggested that certain people he met on the programme appeared to have misread him, acknowledging that while he appears confident, he can also be “a bit of a loner at times”.

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, James described his overall experience on the series as “really good”. He continued: “It was a really fun experience, and I actually learnt some stuff.

“It reconfirmed what I want in life and made me really appreciate what an amazing woman Chloe is and what my priorities are, which is her and Bodhi.”
