Motorcyclist dies after plummeting off ramp from West Seattle Bridge

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on an off-ramp from the West Seattle Bridge on Tuesday morning.

Just before 2 a.m. Seattle police officers were called to reports of a motorcycle crash on the 1st Ave S off-ramp from the bridge.

Police arrived and found a man on the ground below. Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officers cordoned off the area, and Seattle police Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives arrived to collect evidence.

Detectives determined that the motorcyclist was driving west on the bridge when he hit a guardrail on the off-ramp. He flew over the railing and landed on a sidewalk on 1st Ave S.

The fall was estimated to be about 30 feet.
