Reuben Owen has made his comeback to Channel 5’s Life in the Dales, offering audiences a window into the highs and lows of his agricultural endeavours.
The young farmer operates a machinery enterprise at Ravenseat, a 2,000-acre family estate in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, having mastered the craft under his parents, Clive and Amanda Owen.
The 22-year-old gained recognition alongside them on Our Yorkshire Farm, and now presents his own show, showcasing his siblings, mates and girlfriend Jessica.
In the opening episode of the latest series, broadcast Tuesday evening, it doesn’t take long before Reuben finds himself battling on the farm, jokingly suggesting he’d need to “sack” somebody.
While constructing a fresh sheep pen, a gate post presents complications, with Reuben confessing it’s somewhat of a “fiddle” to achieve uniform alignment, reports the Express.

“It is quite a fiddly job, as the pens have to have the right gaps to shut properly and not too much gap that the sheep can get through,” he clarifies.
“I’m going mad,” he subsequently declares, while calculating the pen dimensions.
“You know when you’re like snow-blind, I’m like that but with gates now,” he tells his friends, as they attempt to resolve it.
Yet matters grow trickier as one of the posts ends up positioned incorrectly.
Reuben says: “There’s quite a lot of messing around, two have had to be cut down so Sonny is on cutting them and welding them.”

As they start to hammer one of the posts in using a super-size machine, the team are left baffled with the result, as the post is refusing to go in, having gotten stuck on a stone.
The narrator of the 5 series explains: “Their measurements are way off, and after spending hours lining up, Reuben’s frustration is starting to show.”
With Sonny and Jessica both struggling to correctly align the post, Reuben’s frustration begins to show.
“Jesus Christ, you two,” he tells them as Jessica says, “Don’t blame me.”
Having hit a rocky start, with Jessica wondering how big the “problem” will be if the post is stuck on a rock, Reuben is left looking for someone to blame.

He quips: “Have we decided who made the mistake, Jess or Sonny here? Because we’re going to have to sack someone here.”
“I didn’t have the tape measure,” Jess hits back, but continues to find a solution with Sonny.
Eventually, Reuben brings his digger to site, using it to dig up the soil around the post and insert it in properly.
He celebrates with his team: “There we go, one more metal post and we’re about there.”
Ahead of the new series airing, Reuben took to Instagram to urge excited viewers to “tune in” with several rushing to comment how excited they were to watch.
One wrote: “We’ll be watching to see what you all get up to! We’ve missed you on our screens.”
Another meanwhile said: “Fabulous news, can’t wait. All of you are so natural in front of the camera…,” while a third commented: Lovely wholesome entertainment…. lovely people all!”
Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales airs Tuesday at 8pm on 5.
