Motorcycle rider dies following crash in Toronto’s west end

Police give an update on a fatal collision which saw a motorcycle collide with an SUV and leave the driver trapped underneath.
A motorcyclist is dead following a collision in Toronto’s Roncesvalles Village neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.
Toronto police said a motorcycle collided with an SUV near Roncesvalles and Howard Park avenues at around 4:10 p.m.
Duty Insp. Peter Wallace told reporters that the motorcycle rider, a man in his 20s, got trapped underneath the SUV after the collision.
After being extricated, the rider, police said, was rushed to the hospital. where they were later pronounced dead.
Wallace said the driver of the SUV, a man in his 40s, remained at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation.

He noted that the SUV was stopped when the motorcycle crashed into it.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.
“It appears at this time that speed might have been a factor, and also the fact that it was raining and the road may have been wet,” Wallace said.
Howard Park Avenue is closed at Dundas Street, and police are warning drivers to use “alternate routes.”
