LIVE: WSFA in wall-to-wall severe weather coverage

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Storms are on the way this evening into Thursday morning, and the First Alert Weather team is tracking the potential for strong to severe weather. The main window for storms runs from 5 p.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday.

What’s the Main Threat?

Warm, muggy air combined with strong wind shear aloft is creating favorable conditions for:

  • Damaging wind gusts (primary threat)
  • Heavy rain- large chance for flooding
  • Isolated Tornadoes (Lower threat, but not zero)

The greatest risk is north and northwest of Montgomery, but storms could impact a wider area.

Expect partly cloudy skies early with temperatures in the upper 60s. Showers and thunderstorms will impact the area. Some storms could be strong or severe. Stay alert and keep your phone nearby for First Alert updates.

Thursday Morning

A wet and potentially stormy start as the cold front moves through. A few strong storms remain possible early in the morning. Conditions improve through the afternoon as the front pushes south and clouds decrease. Highs will reach the mid 70s to low 80s.

Saturday: Much better! Partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Low chance for a shower or two.

Mother’s Day: Showers and storms possible. Highs in the 80s with lows in the 50s and 60s.
