‘Survivor 50’ recap: Legendary player eliminated in ‘Shooketh’ twist

Jeff Probst dishes on ‘Survivor’ favorites at 2025 Emmy Awards
Jeff Probst shares his current favorite “Survivor” contestants and reflects on 25 years of hosting at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
Warning: The following contains major spoilers for Season 50, Episode 11 of “Survivor.”
It’s the month of the “Survivor 50” finale (airing May 20), and the stakes rise with each episode, regardless of who viewers are rooting for.
And as if the gameplay alone wasn’t already stress-inducing, each episode throws in a dramatic, unprecedented twist that host Jeff Probst reminds the cast was voted for by fans.
The May 6 “Survivor” episode, titled “Everyone Will Be Shooketh!,” continued this trend after the immunity challenge, where Jonathan Young narrowly won a balance challenge. Though Jeff initially announced Tiffany Ervin as the winner, a panel of judges later disqualified her for using both feet on the stage during the challenge, which required players to stand only on one at the end.
Probst then revealed that the final nine would be split into two tribes, with each going to tribal council to vote someone out. Winning the challenge not only allowed Jonathan immunity but also the power to attend both tribal councils and cast a vote at each.
And hence, stress was high, leading to two dramatic votes that ended in celebration, despair, or a bittersweet mix of both, depending on who fans want to win.
Who was voted out first?
Season 45 returnee Emily Flippen experienced deja vu as she was once again eliminated on Day 21.
She attended tribal council with close ally Rick Devins, her target Cirie Fields, as well as Jonathan and Tiffany. Emily tried to convince Cirie, Tiffany, and Jonathan to vote for Rick, who she told to play his hidden immunity idol.
Unfortunately for her, Cirie decided to use her extra vote to split votes on Emily and Rick, ensuring that at least one of them would go home. After her bluff failed, Emily immediately joined the jury to watch the next tribal council.
Who was voted out next?
History repeated itself in another heartbreaking blindside in the next tribal council, which included Aubry Braco, Ozzy Lusth, Rizo Velovic, Joe Hunter and Jonathan.
While the odds were seemingly stacked against Aubry, as Rizo, Ozzy and Joe were heavily aligned, she managed to sway the vote to save herself. Ozzy had mistakenly told Aubry, whom he assumed was a sitting duck, his plans to go to the end with Cirie.
She immediately told everyone else, sealing Ozzy’s fate. Even his close ally Rizo voted against him, refusing to tell Ozzy to play his idol.
Despite having a dream he interpreted as a warning to play his idol, Ozzy didn’t trust his instincts and went home with the advantage, as he did in Season 16 in 2008.
