Russini quit her job at The Athletic amid the brewing scandal. Vrabel is facing questions about whether he can last as head coach of the New England Patriots, even after the former Pats linebacker guided the team to a Super Bowl in his first season at the helm.
Citing an unnamed source “with direct knowledge,” TMZ wrote that Vrabel and Russini spent two to three hours on the water in Putnam County, Tennessee, when Vrabel was head coach of the Tennessee Titans. The showbiz site obtained the purported waivers for their voyage.
Russini was pregnant at the time with her first child, the site said. Russini and Vrabel were and are married to other people, with two children each.
TMZ wrote that Vrabel and Russini “appeared cautious” about photos being taken at the outing. Vrabel approved one photo of him with staff as long as it wasn’t posted. But Russini asked not to be photographed.
HuffPost has reached out to Vrabel through the Patriots and Russini via a social media account; neither has responded.
