Thurrock local election results 2026 in full

Voters in Thurrock in Essex have had their say in the 2026 local elections.
All 49 seats were up for grabs on Thurrock Council. Two seats were up for grabs in the wards of Chafford Hundred East, Chafford Hundred West, East Tilbury, Linford & West Tilbury, Little Thurrock Blackshots, Little Thurrock Rectory, Orsett, Horndon & Bulphan, Purfleet-on-Thames, Stifford, Tilbury Riverside, Tilbury St Chads, and West Thurrock & South Stifford.
Three seats were up for grabs in the wards of Aveley, Belhus, Chadwell St Mary, Corringham & Fobbing, Grays Riverside, Grays Town, Ockendon, Stanford-le-Hope South, and The Homesteads & Stanford-le-Hope North.
This is the first all-out election for Swindon since 2004. Previously elections in the Essex borough took place three out of every four years, but following a change in 2025, they now take place once every four years.
Thurrock Council is a unitary authority responsible for local government services such as education, social care, highways, transport, planning and recycling.
Ahead of the election, Thurrock Council was run by Labour, with 26 seats.
Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 7, with the count taking place on Friday, May 8. Results for the Thurrock local elections are due from 3pm.
In total, more than 5,000 council seats were up for grabs across 136 local authorities in England on election day. Mayoral elections also took place in six areas.
