Grimsby legend Guy Martin is a former motorcycle racer, heavy vehicle mechanic and television presenter.
He retired from racing in July 2017, and has since embarked on a career in TV with the release of his reality series Guy Martin: Proper Jobs.
The first series, which aired on U&Dave in 2025, saw Guy attempt a variety of different roles, including a shift as a firefighter, a wildlife warden on a remote island, a deckhand on a fishing trawler and a mountain rescue dog handler.
The 44-year-old star returned for another instalment earlier this year, where he tried his hand at some more of Britain’s most challenging jobs and found out about the everyday heroes who do them. Season two saw Guy drill one mile beneath the North Sea in the UK’s last deep mine, milk dairy cows on a remote island in the Hebrides, and get stuck into the hazardous world of HGV recovery.
Now, Guy is set to appear on James Martin’s Saturday Morning. The latest episode of the show (May 9) will also feature chefs Romy Gill, Nick Nairn and Lesley Waters, as well as James cooking up a storm in his Hampshire kitchen. Ahead of his appearance, here’s everything you need to know about Guy Martin.
Guy Martin’s early life

Guy was born on November 4, 1981, in a suburb of Grimsby. He was named in tribute of Guy Gibson, a distinguished bomber pilot in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.
Guy’s dad, Ian, was a privateer motorbike racer who had competed in several Isle of Man TT events, but was forced to supplement his income with a job as a lorry mechanic, additionally selling bikes. Guy’s mother, Rita, was of Latvian heritage, with her father coming to Britain in 1947 as a political refugee.
Who is Guy Martin married to?
Guy married his long-term partner, Sharon Comiskey, last year, with their seven-year-old daughter, Dottie, acting as flower girl.
The star met publisher Sharon in 2010 at a moped race in her home country of Ireland. Although the couple have now said “I do”, Guy previously admitted that he “didn’t believe in marriage”.

When asked about getting hitched, he said: “She wants to get married, I’m not up for it. I’m not the marrying sort of man. No one trusts anyone. My missus obviously doesn’t trust me, that’s why she wants to get married. But I’m not bothered, I don’t need it. Getting married just to keep her happy is the wrong reason.”
Guy went on: “I’m quite happy doing what I’m doing. I don’t cheat, I don’t f*** about. I can’t see that day ever coming,” adding: “We’ve been together about seven years and she keeps wittering on about it. I just go to the default – nod, smile and agree.”
Guy eventually changed his mind in 2023, telling Radio Times that he had bought an engagement ring for a low-key wedding with only “half a dozen” guests.
Explaining why he had “U-turned” on the idea of matrimony, he said: “We’ve got a kid. She puts up with me, I put up with her, we get on with it. And it would make her happy.”
Guy Martin’s driving ban

Last month, it was reported that Guy had been banned from driving for six months after he was twice caught breaking the law on his Honda motorcycle.
The former racer was prosecuted by Northamptonshire and Leicestershire police forces after he triggered speed cameras.
“He apologises to the court for his offending. He will not be opposing the totting up six-month disqualification,” a partner at law firm Chattertons wrote on Guy’s behalf.
