Alaska Airlines to add three more routes at Sonoma County airport

Alaska Airlines will add three more destinations to its service from Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport starting Nov. 1 and running at least through mid-April next year, the carrier and airport announced Thursday.
This fall, local travelers will be able to fly Alaska Airlines nonstop to Boise, Phoenix and Salt Lake City.
The flights will not be offered year-round, but seasonally, according to the airline’s announcement.
“Alaska could not be happier to expand our route map from Santa Rosa,” Kirsten Amrine, vice president of network planning and revenue management for Alaska, stated in the announcement. “We were the first carrier to bring commercial service to Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport, and we’re proud to remain the largest airline serving the community.”
Passengers will be able to fly on the airline to Phoenix daily through April 21, 2027. Daily flights to Boise and Salt Lake City will be available during peak periods through April 19 and April 21, 2027, respectively.
During off-peak times, trips to Boise and Salt Lake City will be available on a variable schedule, according to the airline.
Airport Manager Jon Stout said he did not have data to know what the peak periods would be for the new routes.
“We were pleasantly shocked they were adding three destinations as part of their fall schedule updates,” Stout said. “It means that Alaska continues to see strong response from our community and strength in our market, and they’re going to continue to invest and grow their presence.”
Alaska Airlines has been providing service to Sonoma County since 2007.
Alaska picks up the Boise and Salt Lake City flights dropped by Avelo Airlines in April 2025 as part of its decision to depart STS in August 2025. American Airlines also services the Phoenix market from the Sonoma County airport.
Earlier this year, on March 18, Alaska launched local flight service to Ontario, Calif., resuming another route dropped by Avelo in April 2025. When Alaska announced last October it would start the Ontario service, Stout praised the news.
“We were happy to have Avelo try it, but they didn’t serve (the market right),” Stout said at the time. “With Alaska doing it daily, it is a better service to that market, and it will give a lot better options for people who need to go to the Inland Empire.”
Come fall, Alaska will serve a total of 12 nonstop destinations from Santa Rosa, including Los Angeles, Burbank, San Diego, Orange County, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Ontario, Boise, Phoenix and Salt Lake City.
