Rain postpones IndyCar Series qualifying at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Qualifying for the IndyCar Series race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course has been postponed to 10:45 a.m. ET Saturday morning.
Qualifying will start on FS2 and moves to FS1 at 11:30.
Persistent rain starting mid-afternoon Friday produced treacherous conditions, prompting the delay. The Indy NXT race preceding the scheduled qualifying finished under rainy conditions, which continued into the evening.
Three-time defending race champ and IndyCar points leader Alex Palou had the fastest lap in practice under dry conditions early in the afternoon.
Rain is forecast to conclude before sunrise Saturday, with sunny skies and a high in the 70s during the afternoon. The Sonsio Grand Prix, an 85-lap race on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile IMS road course, remains scheduled for 4:57 p.m. ET.
