After spending time in the capital Zagreb, where he received Croatian citizenship and a Croatian passport, actor John Malkovich has been visiting Croatia’s coast.

Malkovich travelled this week to the island of Mali Lošinj. During the visit, he met with the town’s mayor, Ana Kučić, who later shared details of their meeting on social media.

Kučić described the meeting as a special occasion and said she was impressed by the actor’s approachable and friendly manner.

The pair discussed the island, its people and the natural beauty that Malkovich experienced during his stay on Lošinj.

The mayor also recommended that the actor visit the Museum of Apoxyomenos, home to one of Croatia’s most valuable museum exhibits, the ancient bronze statue of Apoxyomenos, which has previously been displayed in museums around the world.

As a gift marking his visit, Kučić presented Malkovich with the book Golden Book of Lošinj Maritime Heritage by Dr Julijan Sokolić, including a personal dedication.

According to the mayor, Malkovich said he plans to return to Lošinj again in the future with his family.
