Public Advisory: Land Available for Agricultural Development

The Provincial Government continues to support Newfoundland and Labrador’s farmers by making more farmland available for long-term agricultural use.
Approximately 3,000 acres of farmland are currently available through a request for proposals process in 14 parcels located in western, central and eastern Newfoundland.
Proposals submitted through this process must include a five-year farm development plan, a commercial farm business plan and, where applicable, a pasture management plan. Proposals must describe the proposed use of the land, with specific consideration for the site’s suitability for agricultural development. Successful applicants will be eligible to acquire a long-term Crown land agricultural title.
Submission guidelines, including an overview and soil suitability maps of the lands available for application, are available at Requests for Proposals – Land for Agriculture.
Proposals will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. (NDT), May 29, 2026.
