Alan Brazil has issued a statement after undergoing a “life saving operation” following a health scare that kept him away from talkSPORT.
The iconic 66-year-old has been away from his usual slot on the Breakfast Show for a number of weeks due to health issues. Brazil has hosted the show for more than 25 years but his voice has been missing recently. Brazil took to social media to explain his absence in a statement, which read: “Hi Guys, I hope that everyone’s well.
“Some of you will have noticed that I’ve not been around. I recently had a life-saving operation and I’m deeply grateful to the brilliant medical team who have looked after me.

“It will be some time yet before I’m fully back to myself and for now I am focused on my recovery in private. Thank you to my family and those close to me who’ve been supporting me/ putting up with me!
“I’ll see you all soon.”
Fans took to the comments section to wish Brazil well in his recovery, with one user saying: “Speedy recovery Al , miss you on the radio it just isn’t the same. All the best until your back on big man.”
A second wrote: “Speedy recovery AL , take care , look forward to hearing you back on the airwaves soon.” While a third added: “Get well soon Al. Look after yourself.”
Brazil started his professional career at Ipswich Town after moving down from Scotland. The forward went on to sign for Tottenham and Manchester United before injuries took their toll on his career.
After brief spells at Coventry and QPR, Brazil played in non-league for the likes of Witham Town and Chelmsford City before the 13-time Scotland international started working as a sports analyst.
