Garden inspired by Norfolk Broads displaying at Chelsea Flower Show

A garden inspired by the Norfolk Broads will be at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
Titled A Seed In Time, the garden is designed by Baz Grainger and is being shown by wealth manager Killik & Co.
The design highlights the sustainable beauty and heritage of East Anglia’s iconic reeds, while promoting biodiversity and traditional crafts.

Central to the garden’s concept is Phragmites australis, the common reed that has long shaped the ecology and architecture of East Anglia for centuries.
Hand-woven bird nesting baskets crafted by Karen Bek from King’s Lynn will also be featured.
Nurseries supplying the project include Peter Beales Roses in Attleborough.
Mr Grainger, a landscape designer with Landform Consultants, said: “Based on the idea of ‘making more from less’—which reflects Killik & Co’s investment philosophy—I’ve created a calm, family garden rich in biodiversity inspired by the wetland landscapes of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.”

The garden features a sunken wetland fed by rainwater, clay-rendered structures inspired by straw and reed bale construction, and three traditional drying racks dressed with authentic Norfolk reeds.
Mr Grainger said: “We’re showcasing the reed’s low-impact, renewable qualities and celebrating a disappearing craft from Britain’s natural wetland heritage.”
Killik & Co said they are thrilled to continue their collaboration with Mr Grainger.
Georgie Killik from Killik & Co said: “We are delighted to be working with Baz Grainger at RHS Chelsea for a third year after a Gold Medal-winning year in 2025.
“The ‘A Seed In Time’ garden offers practical adaptations for tackling vital issues and includes some really exciting and visually stunning elements. We can’t wait to see it take shape.”
Following the Chelsea Flower Show, the garden will be relocated to a Centrepoint project in London.
Construction of the garden will be carried out by award-winning landscape contractors Landform Consultants.
