UW student found dead at off-campus apartments after report of stabbing

Seattle police are investigating a woman’s death at a University of Washington (UW) off-campus apartment building as a homicide.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers were dispatched to a stabbing at the Nordheim Court Apartments in the 5000 block of 25th Ave NE around 10:10 p.m. Sunday.

Police found a 19-year-old woman dead in a laundry room in building 7. Officers and firefighters tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead.

Residents were told via the UW Alert system to remain inside and lock their doors and windows. Nordheim Court is off-campus apartment housing for UW students, and SPD said the victim was a student.

According to the UW Police Department, officers are searching for a man described as 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 25 to 30 years old, with a slim build, black hair, and a beard. He was wearing a button-up shirt under a dark blue vest and blue jeans.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.

Campus police cordoned off the area, and Seattle police took over the investigation. Detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units processed the scene and are investigating what led up to the murder.

The victim’s identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
