  • Katt Williams made a surprise appearance during Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday, May 10, and he and Kevin Hart seemingly ended their years-long feud

  • In recent years, Williams has criticized Hart for his career choices and claimed Hart stole multiple movie roles from him

  • The two men hugged it out at the end of Williams’ set in Los Angeles, and Hart announced “the beef is over” during his own set at the roast

Kevin Hart and Katt Williams seemingly squashed a years-long feud when the latter comedian made a surprise appearance at Hart’s Netflix roast.

During Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday, May 10, Regina Hall introduced Williams, 54, as a surprise comedian and performer more than two hours into the roast in honor of Hart, 46.

The pair of comedians previously traded barbs in 2018, when Williams complained in a radio interview that comedians like Hart and Tiffany Haddish did not deserve the success they had found so quickly in their careers. In 2024, Williams also suggested during a podcast interview that Hart routinely took several movie roles from him while Williams was still considering signing on to those projects.

“I’m surprised they invited me. That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway,’ ” Williams told Hart, as he took the stage, to laughter during the roast. “Very humble of me to be at your GOAT roast tonight, Kevin. I’ve won an Emmy Award, but this is going to be my best acting tonight as I pretend like you are a GOAT.”

Williams also zinged Hart for participating in the Saudi Arabia-set Riyadh Comedy Festival in 2025, which Hart and a number of American comedians were criticized for taking part in by other comedians and organizations like Human Rights Watch due to the country’s suppression of free speech.

“You’re wondering, why is the Katt man doing this? For the money, b—-,” the comedian said. “This is my Riyadh Comedy Festival. Only one with a soul.”

The show also featured performances from Dwayne Johnson, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Tom Brady, Draymond Green, Shane Gillis, Jeff Ross and more celebrities. Williams pointed to his past statements about Hart’s place within the entertainment industry during his surprise set.

“For those of you just joining us, Kevin and I had beef, and I’ll tell you why. Because, privately, this motherf—er stole everything from me. Before he saw my act, he was a 6-foot-3 White man,” he said.

Williams continued, “I tried to tell y’all that Kevin Hart was a plant, because I keep burying him. He keeps springing back the f— up, just like a plant. Yes, I said some things I’d like to take back, some things I said were misunderstood. I did say that Kevin was a Hollywood puppet, and I want to explain that because it might not be what you think. I meant that the head of Netflix literally has his whole hand up Kevin’s ass and can make him do anything.”

Hart, who sat onstage during Williams’ set, approached the comedian after Williams finished his performance. “Me and this man have been at odds for years on years. You coming out here, quite the f—ing surprise. But Katt, I can sit, I can watch you, I can laugh because I’m a f—ing fan first … Katt, we have an opportunity in real time — this is live television — to put our f—ing beef behind us. I am offering you an olive branch of peace. I want to be a brother. I want to be a friend, Katt.”

“I want to move on. Can we move on?” he added, as the two men shook hands and hugged.

Hart also poked fun at Williams during his own set at the end of the roast and added again that the feud between the two had ended. “It’s not good for all these White people to see two Black people fighting. We’re too small to have the beef that we had. So Katt, it’s over. The beef is over between me and Katt,” he said. “And on a serious note, I love the fact that that man showed up tonight. He showed out.”

Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart is streaming now.
