MLB Power Rankings as Phillies Return to Relevance and Tigers Tumble

15. Arizona Diamondbacks (19-20)

Previous Rank: No. 14
Last Week: 1-2 vs. PIT, 2-1 vs. NYM

The D-backs made a big move over the weekend, DFA-ing Alek Thomas and promoting top prospect Ryan Waldschmidt. Meanwhile, one of the most surprising resurgences of the year belongs to Eduardo Rodriguez, who put together excellent starts against the Pirates (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER) and Mets (8.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER) last week to lower his ERA to 2.25 in 48 innings.

14. Texas Rangers (19-21)

Previous Rank: No. 15
Last Week: 1-2 @ NYY, 2-1 vs. CHC

A series win over a red-hot Cubs team is enough to move the Rangers to the head of the massive group of teams clustered together in the standings at a few games below .500. After a rocky start to the year, veteran Nathan Eovaldi has allowed seven hits and one earned run in 15 innings over his last two starts.

13. Philadelphia Phillies (19-22)

Previous Rank: No. 23
Last Week: 1-0 @ MIA, 2-1 vs. ATH, 2-1 vs. COL

Following a brutal 10-16 month of April where they were outscored by 31 runs, the Phillies have seemingly rescued their season from the brink with a 7-3 record in their last 10 games. Kyle Schwarber has slugged five home runs already this month, and his 16 homers overall are tied for the MLB lead with Aaron Judge as he has picked up right where he left off last season.
