Queen Camilla joins forces with James Middleton at a special Clarence House reception

The pair watched a demonstration by a Labrador named Jodie, who is able to sniff out bowel cancer, and met Lucy, whose Medical Alert Assistant Dog, Wolfie, helps to save her life by alerting her to oncoming fatigue and fainting due to her Postural Tachycardia Syndrome.
In a speech to the gathered crowd, Queen Camilla dismissed the ‘sceptics’, reiterating that ‘nature will always lead the way.’
The Queen is known for her love of dogs and was ‘heartbroken’ after the death of her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Beth, in 2024. Her Majesty revealed in February last year that she had adopted a new addition to the family – an eight-week rescue puppy named Moley.
The reason behind the pooch’s name? The canine companion ‘looks just like a mole’, the Queen told a local group on a visit to Canterbury. Asked what breed her new puppy was, the 77-year-old royal joked: ‘You may well ask. A bit of everything. It’s a rescue dog.’

Queen Camilla adopted Moley from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where she has served as patron since 2016, following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II. The dog was born on Boxing Day, is said to be half Jack Russell, and will have joined King Charles and Queen Camilla’s other canine companion, Bluebell.
