Queen Camilla is also wearing the Queen Mother’s Cartier Palm Leaf Brooch, which she last wore for Commonwealth Day services in March. Made in 1938 using existing diamonds from her personal collection in the setting, its shape echoes a paisley pattern, a motif long associated with the Queen Mother’s native Scotland and where she spent much of her childhood.

Among the guests was Penny Pepper, a poet and activist, who handed a copy of her memoir, First in the World Somewhere: The True Adventures of a Scribbler, Siren, Saucepot and Pioneer, to Queen Camilla. In the book, Pepper chronicles her life in the British punk scene from the 1980s to the 2000s, sharing her struggles with disability, identity, and her fight for artistic and personal freedom.
