Jaguars’ free agent wide receiver signs with new AFC team

Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Tim Patrick has landed with a new team for the 2026 NFL season.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Tim Patrick is signing with the New York Jets. After one season with the Jaguars, Patrick was a free agent this offseason.

Former Jaguars’ WR Tim Patrick signs with Jets

The Jaguars acquired Patrick in a trade with the Detroit Lions prior to the 2025 season starting. As the year progressed, Patrick worked himself into a larger role, which included passing Dyami Brown on the depth chart and being WR3 for a few games when the Jaguars were without Brian Thomas Jr.

Patrick finished the season catching 15-of-25 passes for 187 yards with three touchdowns. Beyond his production, Patrick is a good fit for Liam Coen’s offense, willing to do the dirty work in the run game and attack the middle and intermediate parts of the field.

Why didn’t the Jaguars re-sign Tim Patrick?

Bringing Patrick back would have made some sense for the Jaguars. Along with his contributions from last season and fit within the offense, GM James Gladstone wanted to bolster the depth of the Jacksonville receiver room this offseason. Patrick — as he did last year — could have provided a veteran presence on the back end of the depth chart.

Instead, the Jaguars chose to get younger at this position, selecting Josh Cameron and CJ Williams in the 2026 NFL draft.
