‘Chud the Builder’ detained after Clarksville courthouse shooting, days after other arrest

Two men were injured in a shooting outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville on Wednesday afternoon, including social media personality Dalton Eatherly, known online as “Chud the Builder,” according to authorities.

This comes days after Eatherly was arrested due to an incident at a Nashville restaurant, which led to disorderly conduct and theft charges.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Clarksville Police Department responded around 1:20 p.m. on May 13 to reports of gunfire outside the courthouse at 2 Millennium Plaza.

Investigators said the shooting may have stemmed from a physical altercation between two adult men that escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

Both men suffered gunshot wounds.

One man was taken to Vanderbilt of Clarksville Hospital for treatment, while the other was flown by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Authorities said both were listed in stable condition Wednesday evening.

The Tennessee District Attorney General’s Office identified one of the men involved as Eatherly, who operates under the online name “Chud the Builder.”

Authorities have not said who fired the shots, whether both men were armed, or if any charges may be filed.

Sheriff John Fuson praised courthouse deputies for their response to the incident.

“Thanks to the quick actions of our courthouse deputies, this situation was likely kept from becoming much worse,” Fuson said in a statement. “Their dedication to keeping the courthouse safe was clearly demonstrated today.”Comment with Bubbles
