Kate Middleton Made First International Trip Since Diagnosis

More than two years after she was diagnosed with cancer, Kate Middleton is officially back to her out-of-the-country duties. On Wednesday, the Princess of Wales traveled to Italy, marking her first official international trip on behalf of the Crown. Per People, she is set for a two-day stay in the country, where she will study the Reggio Emilia approach, a world-renowned teaching method intended to foster early child development.

Royal aides have reportedly described the trip as a “really significant moment” in Princess Kate’s recovery. Following invasive speculation about her whereabouts, Kate announced that she’d received a cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She then mostly retreated from public life to focus on her treatment and finished chemotherapy in September of that year. After making a handful of public appearances, she announced that she was officially in remission in January 2025.

“She’s energized, she’s enthused, she’s excited,” an aide said of the trip. “She’s looking forward to seeing Reggio Emilia in action and meeting the people here, too.”

Seems like the 44-year-old is slowly but surely returning to the high-paced nature of royal life: shaking hands with world leaders, showing face, and befriending the likes of Eugene Levy.
