‘Winner’: Delta wows crowd at Eurovision

She hasn’t even officially had her big moment in the song contest yet, but Delta Goodrem is already proving to be a Eurovision fan favourite ahead of her semi final appearance tomorrow morning.

The 41-year-old Aussie songbird with her fiery ballad Eclipse, has done us proud wowing the crowd at the dress rehearsal in Vienna, Austria before the musicians took to the stage for the first semi final of the competition.

In all her glam and flanked by wind machines, the Born To Try singer flawlessly belted out the ballad, walking down the stage toward her other half – the piano.

After playing a segment of the song, the performance escalated into a theatrical finale that saw her mount the instrument and hoisted high into the air on a tiny platform to deliver the end high notes.

The crowd was in awe, as were fans who managed to catch a glimpse of the moment from home.

In a clip shared on X, one fan hailed Delta’s performance as “Australia’s winning moment” and plenty agreed.

Over on Instagram, the praise was much the same.

“This is gonna blow up to A top 5 finish EASILY,” one person predicted.

“She’ll win and rightly so. Magnificence,” another agreed.

“Absolutely incredible”, “winner” and “stunning” were all the summaries that followed in the comments.

While plenty were convinced Delta would get the jury vote, the outcome of the unpredictable televote remains the biggest mystery – especially given that Australians are unable to vote for their own country.

Delta is due to perform in the second semi final, which will air in Australia on Friday May 15th at 5am AEST on SBS and SBS On Demand.

Should she succeed, the Aussie songbird will then make her way to the grand final, airing on Sunday May 17th – same time, same place.

Regardless of the outcome, Delta has a lot to look forward to this year. Capitalising on the Eurovision hype, the singer shared the coming of her next studio album, Pure, earlier this week.

Due to be released on November 6th, it will be the star’s seventh studio album and marks the end of her longest gap between records.
