IPL 2026: Jamie Overton ruled out of season with Chennai Super Kings through injury

England all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League season with a thigh injury.
Overton, 32, has had an impressive season with Chennai Super Kings, playing in 10 of their 11 matches and taking 14 wickets.
He is also fourth on their run-scorers list with 136, including knocks of 43 not out against Rajasthan Royals and 37 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Overton’s next cricket after the IPL is due to be for Surrey in the T20 Blast.
They have seven fixtures between 24 May and 5 June, though Overton would have missed much of that run had Chennai qualified for the play-offs.
The all-rounder retired from red-ball cricket last summer to concentrate on the shorter formats and was part of England’s 2026 T20 World Cup squad.
England’s next white-ball matches are against India in July.
Overton has been replaced by South African all-rounder Dian Forrester, who has played five T20s for the Proteas and was due to play for Kent in the Blast.
