Mumbai Indians starlet Naman Dhir’s trying season on the field continues against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Thursday in the IPL 2026 encounter between the sides as he dropped PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh early in the game.

Naman Dhir drooped his seventh chance of the campaign, the most by any fielder in the ongoing season, as Prabhsimran lived a charmed life.

MI’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and chose to field first against PBKS. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya opened the innings, while Deepak Chahar took the new ball for MI.

Bumrah was introduced in the second over from the opposite end and was unfortunate when Singh was dropped by Dhir at first slip. The openers capitalised on the reprieve, racing to a fifty-run stand in just over four overs.

Arya was the first to depart, bowled by Chahar after scoring 22 off 17 balls, bringing Cooper Connolly to the crease. Prabhsimran and Connolly then built a solid partnership for the second wicket, with Prabhsimran reaching yet another half-century in the tournament and guiding PBKS past the 100-run mark.

Prabhsimran’s innings ended on 57 from 31 deliveries when Shardul Thakur dismissed him, sparking a collapse. Shardul removed Shreyas Iyer for 4, and Raja Bawa accounted for Connolly, who made 21.

Thakur continued to dent PBKS by dismissing Suryansh Shedge for 8, leaving the batting line-up effectively halved. Bosch got his first wicket with the scalp of Shashank Singh for 2 runs off 3 balls before Marco Jansen fell to Shardul for his fourth dismissal of the night.
