Falkirk reject Barney Stewart transfer offer as seven figure bid begins bidding war

Falkirk have turned down a seven figure bid from West Bromwich Albion for Barney Stewart.
The English Championship side has now made multiple offers for the Scotland under-21 cap.
They have now well into seven figures but are still well short of the Bairns’ asking price.
Several other English and European clubs are watching the striker’s situation closely.
It remains to be seen if the Baggies – who are now managed by former Scotland international James Morrison – will go again.
The good thing for Falkirk is the 22-year-old recently signed a long-term deal and still has another three years on his deal.
Stewart has made headlines after hitting 10 goals in just under half a season in the Premiership with John McGlynn’s side.
He started this season on loan at Dunfermline Athletic, where he ripped it up with eight goals in just 12 games.
John McGlynn then recalled him and he continued to produce at the top level in Scotland.
This season has made Stewart one of the hottest properties in Scottish football.
His form has even seen some pundits champion him for a place in Steve Clarke’s World Cup-bound Scotland squad.
He has also been shortlisted for the Scottish Football Writers’ Association’s young player of the year.

Stewart was also on the shortlist for the PFA (Scotland) young player award but missed out to on-loan Rangers winger Mikey Moore.
It has been some rise for the forward who McGlynn signed from Heriot-Watt University just under two years ago.
Stewart had initially come through the youth ranks at Queens Park Rangers before he decided to move into further education.
The Falkirk favourite missed Wednesday night’s defeat at Hearts and is a doubt for the final game of the season against Rangers on Saturday.
