Bristol Airport suspends all flights as passengers face delays

Bristol Airport has suspended all flights this evening due to a runway defect. In a message on its website, posted at 8pm, the airport said: “Due to a defect on the runway, we have suspended operations in order to assess and repair the issue.
“We apologise for any inconvenience. Safety is always our number one priority.
“Customers should refer to their airlines with any flight queries. All flights are currently suspended until at least 2300.”
Its departures and arrivals boards lists a string of cancelled flights. Inbound flights have been diverted as a result of the closure.
